Vaccinations have been effective in reducing the occurrence of many severe childhood illnesses. Yet, many parents express concerns about vaccine safety, particularly in regard to the potential link to autism.
At Child’s Light Pediatrics, our physicians take the time to understand the concerns and beliefs of parents regarding immunizations. We provide parents with current medical information on the safety, risks and effectiveness of all vaccines and alternatives.
While some families at Child’s Light Pediatrics choose the traditional immunization schedule recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), others choose alternative vaccination schedules for their children. Examples of some alternatives include splitting the MMR vaccine into its individual components, delaying certain immunizations or separating out immunizations so that a child receives fewer shots at a well-child visit.
It is our goal to guide parents to make the choices that are right for them and to support them in their preferences.
